Combating Drug Addiction in Jefferson County

Delegate Moore is helping our communities battle the opioid epidemic with the state’s first-ever Vivitrol pilot program, a non-narcotic anti-opioid drug, he secured for Jefferson County. By working with the Jefferson Day Report Center and Alkermes plc, the manufacturer of Vivitrol, Moore made it possible for inmates who voluntarily request Vivitrol upon release from the Eastern Regional Jail to continue receiving this treatment at the Jefferson Day Report Center. This pilot program is now part of the county’s correctional recovery program.

Tackling drug addiction was the first issue Moore undertook directly after being elected. Vivitrol is at the forefront of evolving treatments now available to heal communities and save lives. This pilot program is another tool for helping individuals through the recovery process and addressing the opioid crisis in our region.
